Career Services has developed a
checklist
to help you plan and organize your efforts for UA Fall Career Days. Whether you are considering a career-related experience or full-time employment, you'll meet with greater success if you are informed, organized and confident. The best way to accomplish this is
careful preparation
. Think of the few minutes you spend with each recruiter at the career fair as your opportunity to shine. Do your homework. Research the companies you are interested in. Have copies of your resume on hand. And finally, smile and have some fun! To break the ice when walking up to recruiters at a career fair or any networking situation, we suggest you develop a brief, well-planned summary of yourself. Having your own carefully prepared, practiced and rehearsed one-minute commercial, will make you more comfortable when faced with the recruiter's outstretched hand. One-Minute Commercial

Freshmen: Your Chance to Gather Valuable Information
Beginning your career exploration is an exciting time. If you have already decided on a major, you can begin to identify sources for future internships, career-related experience, and even potential employers. It is never too early to begin looking at how to apply your major to a future career. If you have not yet chosen a major, use this career fair to gain valuable "real world" information from some of the nation's largest and most prestigious employers. Find out what majors they are interested in. If you like what the companies have to offer, ask how you can design and plan your education to be a great candidate upon graduation. To get started, here are some great
sample questions
to ask recruiters.
Sophomores: Begin Scouting for Meaningful Career-Related Experiences
You can learn about internships and other career-related experience opportunities. By meeting with potential employers you could learn about great summer internships or training programs. This is a good time to begin exploring specific career paths. What are the company’s future plans? What is the market outlook for the next five years? You will be surprised at all of the information you can obtain. Don’t forget to bring copies of your
resume
!
Juniors: Internships, Training Programs, and Future Employers
Have you wondered how you can secure a great job upon graduation? Find out what these top employers want in their new recruits and tailor your next two years accordingly. Many companies offer formalized internships and training opportunities for juniors. Some of these are highly competitive. It pays to begin preparations early. Approach recruiters as if you are interested in working for their firm. Do your homework on the organization, dress appropriately, ask
excellent questions
, and don’t forget to bring copies of your
resume
.
Graduating Students and Alums: Let's rock!
You have been planning and anticipating an opportunity like this for a long time. Kick your "A" Game into gear because this is it. You know the old saying: You'll only have one chance to make a great first impression. It's true! Research the companies, fine-tune your
resume
,
dress
for the job, ask
great questions
, and get an edge on the competition. Nothing impresses an employer more than genuine interest and enthusiasm about the company, agency, or organization!
