Career Services Web Team

Revisiting An Old Friend

A note from the Technology Manager

Has it really been more than two years since we adopted our latest web design?

In Internet terms, that's positively ancient. So, naturally, that gave us an opportunity to take another hard look at our Web site. Over the past few months, we've meet with many of our constituencies in an effort to determine how best to serve them, and how to fine tune our presentation of some pretty comprehensive content.

If you are a frequent fan of our particular corner of the Internet, you may have already noticed some of our improvements as they appeared; in addition to new, drop-down menu navigation, we introduced a page rating and commenting system that enabled each and every user to provide feedback at their point of contact. We added two weekly podcasts to our library, and multimedia content has also begun to appear, with many of our most popular workshops becoming available as streaming video. Our most recent (and most visual) update finished our efforts with more refined fonts and blended colors.

But we’re not done!

Over the coming months, we will be launching our first ever, totally on-line Career Development Certificate Program. An interactive, self-paced workbook, the CDC will allow you to chart your career path on your own schedule. We’ll also be launching a new content suggestion system which will point out services or web content that might be helpful based on your relationship with Career Services. We’re also wrapping production on several additional videos, including tutorials on working career fairs and how to dress professionally for an interview.

We’ll miss the old template, to be sure, but so much is changing! I hope you’ll stay with us as we continue to grow and evolve our web site to better accommodate your needs.

My special thanks to:

  • UITS Workgroup & Network Consulting
Thanks for keeping the servers patched and running! You guys rock.
  • Lizzie, Jack, & Marie (aka the Website 6.x Redesign Team)
Amazing ideas and inspirations from all of you.  Thanks for being patient with the color changes!
  • Carol and Claudia
Wow, there were a lot of pages that needed an HTML update!  Thanks for digging in.
  • Learning Technologies Center Gurus
Warmest appreciation for taking our rather nebulous ideas about what we wanted and turning them into a stylish new site template.  Sorry about all of the color iterations...!
  • … and, of course, my wife: thanks for being our unofficial “fourth” member of the Redesign Team. You have the eye of a professional.
