Parent & Student Roles: Year 3 - Junior

Student’s Role

  • Pursue major coursework
  • Develop a file of career-related projects and references
  • Continue to build portfolio through Wildcat eFolio 
  • Develop marketable skills and enhancements to her degree
  • Attend campus career fairs
  • Hone his resume writing and interviewing skills
  • Reassess career goals including alternative career plans
  • Begin to "network" through informational interviews with professionals in chosen fields
  • Summer: Obtain an internship or career-related experience to gain professional skills

Parent’s Role

  • Encourage your daughter to take classes and get involved in activities that will enhance her academics and make her more marketable
  • Talk with your son about his career goals and alternative plans he may be making
  • Encourage your daughter to attend UA Fall and Spring Career Days and any other career fairs on campus that may match her interests
  • Provide "networking" contacts for your son
  • Encourage your daughter to obtain a career-related experience that matches her career goals  

 

Career Services’ Role

  • Assist the student assess her marketable skills and enhancements to her degree
  • Host UA Career Days, Fall and Spring, the UA Education Career Day and UA Graduate School Day
  • Offer mock interviews and resume critiques
  • Provide individual counseling to assist in assessment of career goals
  • Assist student in choosing and applying for career-related experience
  • Maintain career-related opportunities through campus interviewing, resume referral, Wildcat JobLink and Internships.com
