How can UAAA chapters help students with their career?

There are several ways that your local University of Arizona Alumni Association (UAAA) Chapter can act as a valuable resource:

• Meet fellow Wildcats in your new city.
  Thinking of relocating?  Already moved to a new part of the map?  Chapters across the country offer social, cultural, lifelong learning and athletics-related events where you can connect with fellow Wildcats.
• Networking.  
  Chapters offer professional networking opportunities through networking events and individual business connections.
• UA Career Network. 
  Students can find alumni in their desired career field and/or city through the UA Career Network. Chapter leaders and members who want to be mentors are registered on the network. This is the best way to find local mentors.

How should I approach my local chapter?

• Learn how to reach out appropriately.
  Be respectful!  The Informational Interviewing section of the Career Services Job Search Guidelines provides examples of how to make that connection, from questions to ask to the email to write.  Please do not email your résumé directly to Chapter Presidents or leaders.
• Find your local chapter.
  Students can contact their future local chapter at http://alumni.arizona.edu/alumni_groups/about.
• Reach out using the UA Career Network .
  Alumni members who are interested in acting as a resource will be registered with the network.  This is a great place to start!
