The U.S. Federal Government can be a rich source of career experience no matter what your field of interest. By September 2009, 193,000 positions deemed 'mission critical' will need to be filled. Unfortunately, many students are missing out on openings that might be a perfect match for their skills and interests due to lack of awareness about government jobs and how best to navigate the federal applications process. Call to Serve is a program created to bridge the knowledge gap about federal employment and help ensure that college students understand the professional options available to them in federal service.
The Partnership for Public Service created the Red, White and Blue series of handbooks to provide an overview of federal job opportunities, sorted by areas of interest. You will need the free Acrobat Reader plug-in to view the files.
Major-based Academic Quick Guides that list the agencies that hire the most people with those majors, sample positions, and other key information to help students find federal jobs and internships. The purpose of these guides is to help students see that that there are good jobs and internships in government for people with interests like theirs.
