While you can find generic job or internship help anywhere on the web, Design Your Search can will provide you with the tools and personalized support you need to create and execute a successful search.
This interactive experience will give you access to online modules in D2L, special events, and an extensive overview of strategies to use throughout your search. You also get personalized coaching with an assigned Career Educator and consistent help from trained peers which means you have specific people to turn to who know your needs and goals and can help answer your questions as it relates to you.
These one credit courses are open to ALL MAJORS and can help you prepare for your future career and land your first job. Register as you would for any course by logging into your course schedule in UAccess.
SBS 311 – Design Your Life
Learn how design thinking can help you explore your life and career opportunities in this one-unit course. You'll develop a plan for engagement and skill-building experiences that will allow you to test your ideas for a life plan that integrates work and personal values. Offered Fall 2020.
SBS 411 – Design Your Search
Design a personal plan for searching for a job or internship. You'll gain knowledge about timelines, resources, and expectations of a successful search and reflect on how your personal skills have value in your desired career path. You should take this course when you are in an active search for a job or internship. Offered online during Summer 2020 Session I and II.
DYS: A Senior Success
Elizabeth Ortiz, came into her senior year with low expectations for her career plans after graduation.
"I can say that the beginning of my senior year, I came into it with the mentality that, you know? I'm going to graduate. I'm going to be unemployed," says Ortiz. "I mean, I don't know what I'm going to do with my life. Like, what comes after this?"

UA Wildcat Adam Sprintz utilized the Design Your Search Program to find and secure a summer internship in the career field he hopes to pursue.
